Install before you travel vs Check eSIM Connection on ArrivalUpdated 6 days ago

Installation vs Activation (Check eSIM Connection)

Before You Travel vs After You Arrive - Installing your eSIM is not the same as activating it.

Installation 📱

We recommend installing your eSIM a couple of days before you travel. While you can still install it overseas, setting it up in advance gives you time to get help from our customer service team if needed.

⚠ After you scan your QR code your eSIM will appear in your SIM Menu on your device. If you are already in a covered country and you don't won't your eSIM to connect straight away, just switch your eSIM off until you are ready to do so.  Remember, adjusting your settings and connecting to a local network will trigger your plan start date.

Check eSIM Connection on Arrival (Activation) 📱

Our eSIMs 'Activate' when you connect to a local network within a covered country. In order to get connection when you arrive at your destination, you will need to adjust your settings. Check out how to adjust your settings here. 👀

Key information:

  • Install your eSIM at home prior to departure using a stable Wi-Fi connection
  • Your eSIM plan will only start once you are in a covered country and you connect to a local network
  • You need to adjust your settings when you arrive overseas for your eSIM to get connection, it won't happen automatically!
