If you’ve noticed your internet speed suddenly slowing down, don’t worry this might be due to data throttling, and it’s totally normal for Unlimited eSIMs.


Our Unlimited eSIMs give you high-speed data every day. But after around 1.5GB of high-speed use in a single day, your speed may be slowed down (this is called throttling).

📉 Throttling means your speed is reduced to about 1Mbps.

That’s still fast enough for:

  • Using maps

  • Messaging on WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.

  • Social media browsing

  • Sending photos or emails

This is part of an industry-standard practice called Fair Usage Policy (FUP). Mobile operators apply it worldwide to make sure everyone gets fair access to the network and to stop a few users from consuming all the bandwidth.

Tips to avoid throttling

  • Track your usage in the Simify app 📱
    Open the app, head to your eSIM, and check how much data you’ve used for the day. This helps you see if you’re getting close to the 1.5GB limit.

  • Keep an eye on your phone’s built-in usage tracker too (Apple and Samsung both have one in Mobile Data settings).

  • Save big downloads or streaming sessions for when you’re on Wi-Fi.
